Coming soonGroove OS Studio · for iPhone and iPad, then Android

Plug in a studio.

Plug your FM‑1 into an iPhone or iPad and its limits fall away: any number of tracks, samples of any length, proper effects with your plugins, wide stereo sound. Your hands stay on the FM‑1.

One email when Studio is ready. Nothing else.

01 · What it adds

Your FM‑1, without limits.

Your iPhone or iPad brings a fast chip, plenty of storage, a microphone and the internet. Your FM‑1 brings the keys and knobs. Together, the limits are gone.

  • No track limit.

Add tracks until the song is done. The FM‑1's keys and knobs reach every one, a bank of eight at a time.

  • No length limit.

Samples live on your iPhone or iPad, so record a whole verse or a full take. Room stops being something you think about.

  • Proper effects.

A full chain on every track, with our own plugins and the AUv3 plugins you already have.

  • Wide, stereo sound.

Every sound, effect and mix in stereo, as wide as you want it.

  • Bigger synths.

More oscillators, unison and stereo spread for VA sounds that fill the room.

  • A library to start from.

Built‑in instruments and kits, ready to play from the first key.

And things it never did before.

  • Sample with the mic. Sing a hook, tap a mug, record a friend's guitar, in time with your jam.
  • Sample the radio. Grab the last bars from stations around the world, in your tempo and key.
  • Pull it apart. Lift just the drums, the bass, the keys or the voice off what you grab.
  • Nothing played is lost. Keep the last bars you played without recording. Undo anything, compare versions.
  • Finished songs. Arrange, mix and master, then share a WAV, stems, MIDI or a video.
  • Play it like a show. Launch scenes, morph every sound, and Build, Drop, Break and Fill on whole bars.

02 · The idea

Your hands on the FM‑1.
Your music on the screen.

You never look at the phone to find a button. Play the keys, turn the knobs, press PLAY and REC as you always have. The screen shows what you're making, big and clear.

  • Every button keeps its meaning. Press SEQ and the pattern opens. Press FX and the effects do. Nothing to learn twice.
  • Eight knobs, always labelled. The foot of the screen shows what every knob does right now, in the FM‑1's own knob colours.
  • Touch for what hands can't do. Drag a loop longer, draw a note, chop a sample, move a whole section.
  • One cable. Your playing goes to the screen and the sound comes back to the FM‑1.

03 · Jam

Every idea starts as a loop.

Hold REC, play a bass line, and it loops into a clip. Copy the scene, change one part, launch the next one on the bar. Your tracks across, your scenes down, all of it in view.

  • Make me a groove. Pick a vibe and a four‑scene jam starts playing in your key. No blank page.
  • Keep that. Played something good without recording? Studio was listening. Keep the last eight bars.
  • Undo anything. Every change is one move away, and the whole session waits in a history list.
  • Editors you already know. A drum grid and a piano roll, laid out like every studio you've used.

04 · Radio

Sample the radio. It lands in your key.

A late‑night jazz show, a cumbia station, a dub session on the other side of the world. Tune in from the FM‑1, hear a phrase you love and grab the last eight bars. It arrives in your tempo and your key, chopped across the sixteen keys, ready to play over your jam.

  • Stations from everywhere. Turn the PRESETS knob to tune across stations from around the world.
  • Grab it after you hear it. Studio keeps listening, so the phrase you loved is still there when you reach for it.
  • Fits your jam. The grab is matched to your tempo and your key on its own, or kept just as it played.
  • Pull it apart. Keep just the drums, the bass, the keys or the voice.
  • Chop it your way. Sixteen slices across the sixteen keys, or tap where each chop starts.
  • Into your jam. Add the grab to your jam as a new track and play over it.

05 · Mic

Sing it. Tap it. Play it.

Hum a hook, tap a mug, record a friend's guitar. The mic on your iPhone or iPad counts you in, records exactly the bars you ask for and lays them across your keys.

  • In time, always. Recording starts on your first sound and ends on the bar, locked to your tempo.
  • No length limit. Samples live on your iPhone or iPad. Record a whole verse, a long take or a full jam.
  • Slices or a melody. Chop it across the sixteen keys, or play it up and down the keys like an instrument.
  • Resample your jam. Print what's playing back into a sample and flip it again.

06 · Stage

Play your set like a show.

Launch scenes from the black keys and throw the filter and echo with the knobs. Build, Drop, Break and Fill carry the song over whole bars.

  • Lands on the bar. Queue the next scene and your FM‑1 counts you in.
  • Morph. One knob slides every sound and effect between two snapshots, from tight to wide.
  • Stage safe. One switch locks the scene keys and keeps calls and alerts off the screen.
  • Every set kept. Press REC and the whole take, mutes and knob moves included, becomes a song.

07 · The FM‑1's screen

A close‑up of your hands.

Glance down and the FM‑1's own screen shows what your fingers are doing: the knob you're turning, huge, the step you're holding, the bars left until the next scene. The big picture stays on the big screen.

08 · Song and mix

Play the song. Then finish it.

You don't draw a song, you play it. Every take from your jam or your set lands as sections you can trim, move and fade. Then mix it and send it out.

  • A real mixer. Level, pan, sends and meters you can trust, on every track.
  • A master chain. Glue and a limiter on the main, with honest loudness meters and a level‑matched before and after.
  • Automation you can see. Every knob move in your take becomes a lane. Redraw it with a finger.
  • Ready to share. Export a master at the loudness you choose, the stems, the MIDI or a video of the jam.

09 · Plugins

Our plugins. And yours.

Studio comes with a set of its own, each drawn so you can see what it does. Try one on the bass while the jam plays, and keep it if it fits.

  • Yours, too. The AUv3 instruments and effects on your iPhone or iPad sit right beside ours.
  • Hands on. Every plugin lands on the FM‑1's eight knobs, labelled on screen. Turn them while the music plays.

10 · The sound

Same engines. Same sound.

Studio runs the very same Groove OS engines as your FM‑1, built from the same code. A bass you shaped on the FM‑1 sounds exactly the same in Studio. Then go further: more oscillators, unison and stereo spread.

  • See your sound. Envelopes, filters and LFOs drawn large, shaped with the knobs or a finger.
  • Drift. An ambient mode that lets a long scene slowly move on its own.
  • Your library. Projects, sounds and samples, with search, tags and favourites.
  • Every save a version. In Files and iCloud, so you can go back and compare.

11 · iPhone and iPad

Bigger still on iPad.

Plug into whichever screen is closest. Your project is the same on both, so you can start a beat on the phone and finish it on the iPad.

  • Every room on both. Jam, Song, Mix, Stage and Dig, on iPhone and iPad.
  • The whole jam in view. On iPad, edit one part while every loop stays on screen.
  • Read from across the room. On stage, what's playing now and what comes next, in big type.
  • Android next. After iPhone and iPad, Studio comes to Android.

12 · Questions

Questions before it lands.

What do I need?

Your FM‑1 with Groove OS, an iPhone or iPad, and a USB‑C cable.

When can I get it?

Soon. Leave your email with Notify me and we'll tell you the day it's ready.

Is it coming to Android?

Yes. Android is next, after iPhone and iPad.

Can I use my own plugins?

Yes. Studio plays the AUv3 instruments and effects you've installed on your iPhone or iPad, right beside its own set.

Does the FM‑1 still work on its own?

Always. Unplug the cable and your FM‑1 is the groovebox it was, right where you left it.

Do my FM‑1 projects come along?

Yes. Make a Studio copy of any FM‑1 project and keep working on it in every room. The original stays on your FM‑1, untouched.

Will a Studio project play on the FM‑1 alone?

No. Studio lifts the FM‑1's limits: any number of tracks, long samples, full effects chains, stereo and bigger synths. The FM‑1 on its own doesn't have the memory or the power for those, so a Studio song plays in Studio, with your FM‑1 plugged in.

Will it sound the same?

Yes. Studio plays your music with the same Groove OS engines the FM‑1 runs, so every sound you made sounds as it does on the FM‑1.

Be first to plug in.
