Keep it.

GOLDEN HOUR saved in a slot under its name, and as a .groove file on your computer, ready to share.

About 5 minutes · 9 steps

Start from here

The FM-1 below starts where chapter 8 ended, so you can begin here.

  1. Step 1, now: Press SAVE.

The project goes into a slot on the FM-1: its own, or the first empty one. The square after the title goes.

    SAVE

If it doesn't work: Saving while the music plays asks first, and stops it: save between takes.

    Manual: Saving
  2. Step 2: Turn SELECT right to PROJECT, the last view.

The three slots, with your project in one of them.

    SELECTManual: The slots
  3. Step 3: Press SEL on your project's slot.

PROJECT opens on your project's slot. Its menu: LOAD, SAVE HERE, RENAME, DUPLICATE, DELETE.

    SELManual: The slot menu
  4. Step 4: Turn ALGORITHM to RENAME and press SEL.

Every key now types its letter: the white keys A to Y, the black keys B to Z.

    ALGORITHMSEL

If it doesn't work: RENAME dimmed (LOAD IT TO RENAME IT)? That slot is not the loaded project: HOME, and pick the slot with your project.

    Manual: The slot menu
  5. Step 5: Type GOLDEN HOUR, a letter per key.

The first key clears the old name; each key types its letter and steps on. The top white key is the space.

If it doesn't work: A wrong letter? K2 moves the cursor back to it: type it again. K3 left deletes one.

    Manual: The slot menu
  6. Step 6: Tap HOME to finish.

The name is the project's: it goes with the file and shows in the slot.

    HOMEManual: The slot menu
  7. Step 7: Press SAVE again.

A new name is a change: SAVE keeps it in the slot.

    SAVEManual: Saving
  8. Step 8: Download GOLDEN HOUR.groove.

The project as one small file, 1 to 2 KB: exactly what the FM-1 stores, nothing converted.

Tip: On your FM-1: open the Projects page in Chrome or Edge, connect it, and press download on the slot.

Manual: Back up, share and restore
  9. Step 9: Send the file to a friend with an FM-1.

They upload it into a slot on the Projects page and LOAD it: your song, on their unit.

Chapter 9 · the end

What you learned.

  • SAVE keeps the project in its slot; the square after the title means unsaved changes.
  • PROJECT's slot menu has LOAD, SAVE HERE, RENAME, DUPLICATE and DELETE.
  • In RENAME every key types its letter.
  • The Projects page copies a slot to a .groove file and back: the way to back up and to share.

Checkpoint
